According to Mr Masayuki Igrashi – CEO of Honda Vietnam (HVN), “In 2014, HVN will focus not only on improving domestic production and business but also on exporting the company’s products to other countries even Japan”.
With global models such as Lead, SH, PCX, HVN will begin to expand their export of CBU motorcycles to the Australian and North America market besides the currently Japan, Europe, Thailand and South Korea.
Especially, HVN has exported the scooter Dunk from Vietnam back to Japan (as it was previously brought to Vietnam from Japan). Dunk is a model with special details designed specifically for the Japanese market such as large trunk, compact size, suitable for movement in city, fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly… and designed under strict technical standards.

Therefore, Honda Vietnam should consider to adjust in both technical and price when releasing Dunk into Vietnam market.
Knowingly, in 2014 January, HVN has exported the first lot of Dunk 50cc to Japan after which the model was sold with a price after tax of 208.950 yen (43.5 million VND).
HVN representative stated that the production cost in Vietnam for each Dunk unit has been at 40 million VND and that has been the reason why HVN still kept the model behind the curtain in Vietnam market.
For now, Japan was the only market that HVN’s Dunk units were exported to and the sales target of Honda Japan was 25.000 units/year. Besides, HVN aimed to increase the amount of exported CBU units in 2014 by 2.5 times, reaching 100.000 units.
In 2013, HVN has exported 40.000 CBU motorcycles and 80.000 accessories components to Europe, Thailand, Japan and South Korea. Total export value of HVN in the year mentioned reached 162.4 million VND.
Also as stated by HVN representative, Honda’s model produced in Vietnam has reached a localization rate of 95%.
