TMV and HUST to organize Monozukuri – 10 years of implementation in Vietnam

Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV), Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in cooperation to organize “Monozukuri – 10 years of implementation in Vietnam – know-how to success in manufacturing and business” conference for the first time. The conference took place in Crowne Plaza Hotel Hanoi, No. 36 Le Duc Tho St., South Tu Liem, Hanoi with the participation of more than 160 representatives from over 70 Vietnam enterprises and students from technical universties in Hanoi.

The conference was held for the first time, in order to mark the achievements that the program achieved after 10 years of implementation; as well as to create chance for trainees to exchange and sharing experience before and after joining the course. Besides, the conference also aim at direction to improve Monozukuri program in Vietnam in the futre to create more chance for students and enterprises to approach with deep knowledge, know-how of Toyota through Monozukuri course to enhance ability, as well as improve product quality and enhance competitiveness of the enterprises in the future.

In the Conference, representatives from typical enterprises, had the chance to share about difficulties in production and business, as well as results and achievements after joined Monozukuri course. These enterprises have been applying Toyota Production System (TPS) in their production, and achieved many success.

Besides content of the Conference, to partly have a clearer view about Monozukuri, TPS that are using in TMV’s plant, Kaizen module,… all representatives from enterprises and students also have a chance to visit and observe production activities in TMV’s plant in Phuc Thang Ward, Phuc Yen town, Vinh Phuc province.

Through 20 years of establishment and development in Vietnam, TMV always keep commitment to become a good citizen in the community through the implementation of many meaningful social contribution activities in many fields: Traffic Safety, Education – Training and Human resource development.

With that direction, in September of 2005, in the 10 years anniversary of Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV), “Monozukuri course – know-how to success in manufacturing and business” firstly organized, by the cooperation between Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV), Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) HUST and the strong support from many experts from Toyota global, in order to create chance for Vietnam enterprise and technical students tp approach and get deeper knowledge about Toyota Production System (TPS) as well as know-how of Toyota Corporation. By that, support Vietnam enterprises to improve production capacity, to create more high-quality products and services, best serving for demands of society; as well as contribute to human resource development in Vietnam.

With the participation in training from many trainors from HUST, in cooperation with professional engineers of Toyota from Japan, America and TMV, Monozukuri program has been focusing on sharing and providing knowledge about Toyota Production System (TPS), Misspend (muda) and continuous innovation (kaizen), Standardized works, Quality management in TPS, and positive thinking in problem solving. Especially, participants also have opportunity to visit and learn from the experiences in applying TPS in TMV and the companies that successfully applied TPS in Vietnam.

Through 10 years of establishment and implementation, the program has trained 8 professional trainors with deep knowledge about Toyota Production System (TPS). The program also successfully organized 36 courses at HUST and TMV with more than 919 trainees, including 562 trainees as managers from 119 enterprises, and 357 students from technical universites nationwide. Besides annual courses, the program also successfully organized 2 Kaizen Showcases in VPIC1 and LeGroup, in order for enterprises to sccessfully apply TPS in their production and achieved improvement in production and business management.

From the year of 2016, besides traditional teaching method with lectures, class activites and plant tour, the course focus on enhancing more practical knowledge in trainees through content with games, practical case studies, as well as organizing direct-study plant tour in trainee’s factory. The course will also have lecture’s content to focus more in standardize works, as well as to add more knowledge about logistic and warehouse.

Following the success of the program during the last 10 years, in the coming time, the Monozukuri training program will continuously improve content and training quality, to provide more deep management knowledge, as well as consult and support Vietnam enterprises, and to share these knowledge to technical & economics students all over the country. The next Monozukuri course “Lean manufacturing principles” is scheduled to take place in middle week of May this year.
