On the afternoon of May 27th, 2015 in Hanoi, Vina Star Motors (VSM) – the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of Mitsubishi Motors in Vietnam, has officially introduced the totally new Triton to the market.
VSM expects the new model to be the new “king” of the pickup segment in Vietnam which can only be done by gaining an edge against its huge rivals: Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara.
First introduced in 1978, Mitsubishi’s pick-up trucks have gained a strong user base worldwide, from the first Forte to the fourth generation Triton/L200 models which all together have accumulated over 4,000,000 units production volume.
The all-new Triton has been developed to retain and reinforce the concept of its predecessor: A sport utility pick-up that covers everything from commercial use to private use as well as combines the comfort of a passenger car with the functionality and reliability of a pickup.
Front face follows the “Next Mitsubishi Motors’ Face Identity for SUV” which constructs the Mitsubishi Motors brand all over the world. Using a curvaceous composition with well-modulated lines and three-dimensional design, the Triton projects a solid and forceful expression as a pick-up. The distinctive LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon headlamps emphasize the advanced appearance of its front view. The rear view owns a sportier-look thanks to stylish-form tail-lamp & rear bumper in combination with high-mounted LED brake-lamp.
Triton’s cargo capacity is increased by 35% compared to its predecessor, particularly 195 mm longer and 70 mm taller.
Thanks to J-line design, all-new Triton offers a best-in-class interior length without sacrificing shortest turning circle in the segment. In addition, the best-in-class total leg space of 1.745 mm and reclined rear seatback angle of 25 degree promise a comfortable journey for all 5 passengers. New seat design helps to improve leg support, side support with better fit feeling and a sense of luxury with leather cover. The driver seat is equipped with 8-ways power adjusting.
The all-new Triton features a series of modern equipment that can only be seen on a luxury passenger car, including entertainment system with DVD player and a 6.1 inch touch-screen, 6 speakers integrated with Bluetooth/AUX/USB/HDMI connectivity; cruise control; audio switch on steering wheel; dual-zone automatic climate control system; keyless operation system and engine start switch (KOS/OSS); auto lighting control and auto rain-sensing wipers.
The all-new Triton is equipped with a High-power version with variable-geometry turbocharger, providing max power of 178ps and max torque of 400Nm, improving 30% power and 23% torque compared to the standard specification version, apart from the standard version of the 4D56 2.5-liter diesel inherited from previous generation for 4×2 MT model. The engine is accompanied by the 5AT transmission with Sportmode and especially, the paddle shift – which is unique in this segment. Featuring on Triton for the first time is the Super Select 4WD II (SS4-II) system with center differential lock function providing extra traction on poor surface and only the 4WD system usable on road in the segment. The hybrid rear limited slip differential on 4×4 variants helps to improve handling, stability and traction over slippery condition.
The latest generation of Mitsubishi Triton has been awarded a five-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating. All models use the RISE reinforced impact safety body which combines a front structure that efficiently absorbs impact energy with a rigid deformation-resistant passenger cell, dual air-bag for driver & front passenger, pretensioner and force limiter seatbelt for front seats, ABS & EBD brake system.
The all-new Triton variants and prices are as follow:

4×2 AT | 615.000.000 VND |
