MSX officially settled at 59.9 million VND, possible effect on its black market price?

Honda Vietnam is now currently the official distributor and importer of the manual-clutch MSX with a price of 59.9 million VND – much lower compared to its price at small importers. In addition, Honda Vietnam will also provide over 30 accessories for modders.

The question here is “Will MSX’s price on the black market drop when Honda offers a price of 59.9 million with more accessories, after-sale services and warranty?”

MSX’s former price was approximately 100 million VND but with the rumor that the model officially will join the market, its price has dropped quite significantly. Last month, a shop on Ba Trieu street asked for nearly 70 million for MSX, but now they will have to wait for Honda Vietnam’s movement before deciding their MSX’s price.

Meanwhile, a customer that is interested in this product – Mr. Tuan Anh said “The model’s price is reduced a little, many stores put it at 70 million but it’s still 10 million higher compared to Honda’s. We may get the motorcycle immediately but the accessories that Honda provides… we are still thinking of it”.

Currently, Honda Vietnam has had some MSX at dealers but their official date of sale has still not been announced. Therefore, if someone is too anxious for an MSX at this point, he/she will have to spend an additional 10 million to get it in other stores.

However, an anonymous shop owner said he will not reduce the price of MSX despite Honda’s lower price. His story reminded us of Honda SH and PCX recently. Same design but different origin resulted in different in price, as retail store kept their product’s price higher compared to their real value because of other cost such as shipment cost, import tax…

For MSX, as both Honda and retail stores used Thailand-origin MSX, Honda’s price is undoubtedly more reasonable. On the other hand, they also have a wide dealer network with high-quality after-sale services, so convincing customers may not prove to be a hard task to them, not to mention the accessories they can provide.

Therefore, with a price of 59.9 million VND, Honda Vietnam is surely to have the upper hand in the contest.
