Government may issue stop-sales against Mazda3 in Vietnam

The Vietnam Register has just issued documents to request a recall of Mazda from Thaco prior to April 30 or certain (strong) measures will be taken, including halting the entire process of registration for Mazda3.

Last weekend the Vietnam Register has requested Thaco to report in writings its plans to recall the Mazda3 that encounter the check engine light bug. If Thaco failed to answer the agency’s request prior to April 30, strong measures will be taken to protect Vietnamese consumers – Mr. To Ngoc An, Head of Vehicle Quality Control – Vietnam Register confirmed with Autonet on the afternoon of April 26.

The Truong Hai Automobile Company (THACO), said in a statement on December 3 that experts from Japan found that soot in the fuel sprayer was the main reason for the Check-Engine warning light.

The company said these cars have received free cleaning of the fuel sprayer with a ‘Deposit Cleaner’ at authorised service centres nationwide following suggestions from Japanese experts of Mazda.

Experts from Mazda Japan also suggested to car users that they buy fuel from authorised filling stations for better and cleaner gasoline.

According to the Viet Nam Competition Authority under the ministry of Industry and Trade, some customers complained that the warning light of the Check-Engine appeared on their Mazda3 cars in early October, and they were anxious to resolve the problem.

The authority also cautioned all users of the Mazda3 1.5L model to take their cars for repairs to authorised service centres only.
