[VMS 2015] New CKD Mazda2 introduced

At Mazda’s booth at VMS 2015, Mazda2 is still the most notable compact car, not only because of it being the new version but also because of the fact that the model is locally assembled (or completely knocked down – CKD).

On the occasion of VMS 2015, Thaco has stated that the new Mazda 2 will be available in Vietnam market as a CKD model. The CKD Mazda2 will still be offered with 2 different versions sedan and hatchback.

Specifically, the sedan is 260mm longer than the hatchback, resulted in a nearly double volume trunk (440 liters). Both feature the same wheelbase at 2.570mm and ground clearance at 143mm.

Mazda2’s exterior still follows Mazda’s design language KODE very closely. The “Soul of Motion” is expressed through every detail such as the wing grille, cheetah-eye front/taillights or every surface and bodyline. LED headlights are only available on the premium version.

Meanwhile, the interior of Mazda2 is now more driver-focused with control buttons replaced by a touch screen. Leather-covered seats and details, steering wheel integrated with multifunction buttons, auto climate control, keyless entry, Start/Stop and many other features are available.

The Mazda Connect is adjusted through center knob directly connected with 7-inch LCD touch screen. For entertainment purpose Mazda2 is equipped with a 6-speaker DVD system, AUX/USB/Bluetooch connection with hand-free assistance… The DVD system is a totally new feature on the CKD version; the CBU version only features CD player.

Passenger space is relaxing, spacious and comfortable. 3 headrests are integrated into 2^nd-row seats, which can also be folded in 60:40 ratio to maximize space.

Mazda2 makes use of a 1.5L I-4 SkyActiv engine with max power at 81kW (109 hp) and max torque at 141Nm accompanied by a 6-speed AT that optimize performance while minimize fuel consumption. The i-Stop feature also helps a lot in saving fuels.

The Sport Mode is also one big plus for Mazda2 which provides better acceleration and performance along with enjoyable driving experience.

In term of safety, Mazda2 is equipped with ABS, EBD, EBA, DSC, TCS, HAS, auto door lock, rearview camera, 2 airbag and anti-theft features…

The pricing of both versions were also announced with the sedan priced at 609 million VND and the hatchback priced at 669 million VND. However, if customers purchase any of the 2 versions during VMS 2015, they will receive a discount of 30 million VND.
