Toyota Vietnam to cooperate with the National Traffic Safety Committee on traffic safety enhancement

On the 29^thof July in Hanoi, Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) and the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) held a signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation “Traffic safety enhancement 2015-2018 “. The signing ceremony was held solemnly in the presence of the leaders of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Public Security, General Road and representatives of relevant authorities and media.

With the hands of the Government, the related functional authorities, as well as socialization resource mobilization, the cooperation between TMV & NTSC will be undertaken aimed at Promoting the educational activities & raising awareness on execution of traffic safety regulations; Enhancing the quality and effectiveness of government agencies’ operations in the field of ensuring traffic safety; Contributing to the goal of deducting traffic accident as well as building up traffic culture in nationwide.

According to the memorandum, the cooperation on ensure order and traffic safety will be implemented within 3 years from 2015 to 2018, including the activities carried out in the following directions:

1.    Promoting and disseminating Vietnam road traffic laws and giving instructions on safety driving skills for car users via specific activities in the period from 2015 to 2018.

2.    Providing vehicles & equipments for traffic inspectors in patrolling activities.

3.    Cooperating with Ministry of Transportation to build up & complete the standards on technical safety & environmental protection of cars using; building up the compulsory standards for maintenance issue for car users.

4.    Supports for victims of traffic accidents and their family.

5.    Cooperate to organizing traffic safety learning activities and building up traffic culture for primary pupils nationwide.

At the signing ceremony, Mr Khuat Viet Hung – NTSC Vice Chairman shared “With the entry of the political system and the department, traffic accidents have fallen sharply all 3 criteria on the number of cases, number of the death and number of injured. 2014 the first time the death from traffic accidents decreased below 9,000 people. Traffic accidents first 6 months of 2015 also had a positive outcome.

NTSC please pledged to do its utmost, in cooperation with TMV best performing content signed today aims to contribute to reducing traffic accidents, ensure order and safety for participant and building more and more safety and civilized traffic environment in Vietnam”.

Throughout 20 years of operating in the market of Vietnam, TMV not only aims at becoming the leading company of Vietnam’s auto market by always developing production and sales activities, but also make efforts to become a goof citizen, growing in harmony with local community through many positive social contributions in areas such as traffic safety, environment protection, education, sports & culture. Among that, traffic safety is always priority and focusing on implementation.

Therefore, since 2015, TMV has been cooperating with Ministry of Education and Training to launch the annual “Toyota Traffic Safety Education Program” (TSEP), in order to educate knowledge and awareness for primary pupils nationwide. Following that, at the end of 2014, TMV continued to cooperate with Department of Traffic Police – Ministry of Public Security to carry out “Toyota Safety Driving Program”, under the direct support of Toyota Motor Corporations (TMC), in order to train and develop a team of core safety instructors who have capable of providing knowledge, training skills and raising awareness of safety driving for car drivers in Vietnam.

Speaking at the MOU, Mr. Yoshihisa Maruta – TMV’s president shared his comment that “In collaboration with NTSC, TMV will join hand step by step to conduct activities, targeted to more people and bigger scale with more functional authorities in involvement. We expect that by implementing this program, the public awareness of traffic safety will be increased, the law abeyance will be strengthened & the traffic safety situation of Vietnam will be improved, so that the number of traffic accidents will be reduced”.
