Piaggio to promote traffic safety with Bluetooth-integrated safety helmet

Responding to direction issued by the Government and the National Traffic Safety Committee in an effort to raise awareness of traffic participants, Piaggio has introduced a Bluetooth-integrated safety helmet as the brand’s first items in the traffic-safety theme.

Piaggio hopes that their customers in particular and motorcycle users in Vietnam in general are able to understand that using their phones on the street is a dangerous thing to do. In addition, Piaggio stressed the importance of high-quality safety helmet as they are essential to protect drivers’ life in case of collision.

Mr Khuat Viet Hung – Deputy Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee stated at the conference “Traffic accident has long been a hot global issue and remains to be a challenge for Vietnam as well as all other country in the world. It is estimated that 5 million death and 1.2 million injury cases are the result of traffic accidents and it has been the leading cause of death for 15-30 years old people.”

“We highly appreciate Piaggio Vietnam’s effort in developing an innovative product that helps in reducing traffic accidents relating to phone; it will also be one of the first solutions that we are going to test in Vietnam. In addition, improving the quality of safety helmet and raising the awareness of traffic participants are also essential in creating a safe traffic society. Drivers should follow the Decree 04/CT-TTg dated on March 8^th, 2013 from the Government on strengthening production, business and usage of safety helmet.”

Under the auspices of the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Embassy of Italia in Vietnam, Piaggio has released a Bluetooth-integrated safety helmet that works well with Primavera and Sprint. 1.000 helmets will be gifted to customers who buy red cherry Primavera and green moss Sprint.

Proper usage of safety helmet can reduce fatal accidents by 30% and brain injury by 50% in case of unfortunate accident. Wearing a helmet is still a very effective way to reduce the damage one receives in accidents. Especially, in case of our country with over 41 motorcycles, safety helmet continues to be a major factor in ensuring traffic safety.
