Ford EcoSport’s rival officially unveiled in Vietnam

After repeatedly hinted on the introduction of the all-new Hyundai i20 Active, Hyundai Thanh Cong has just officially introduced the compact crossover to the Vietnam market. Hyundai i20 Active is CBU imported from India and will compete with Ford EcoSport with a very competitive price: 619 million VND.

Hyundai i20 Active was first introduced in 2015 March in India and received positive feedbacks from customers. Its sales were quite impressive, with 13.000 units already sold in India. It also generated a trend that favored urban compact SUV in the country.

Recognizing consumers’ preferences of urban compact SUV, Hyundai Thanh Cong has brought i20 Active into Vietnam. The crossover perfectly suits those who need a compact, high ground clearance, eye-catching and has operability suitable with Vietnam’s traffic conditions.

With this move, Vietnam has also become the 2^nd country in the world that welcomes i20 Active. The vehicle has only one version for its launch.

In term of design, Hyundai i20 Active features a typical crossover styling with dynamic design under Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Its length x width x height is respectively at 3.995 x 1.760 x 1.555mm while its wheelbase and ground clearance are at 2.570mm and 190mm.

Other modern exterior equipments include dual-mode projector headlights, LED daytime running light, navigating light and auto-adjust light when cornering. Outstanding fuel tank cap, 16-inch 5-spoke wheels and gloss black C-pillar create a harmonious theme.

Inside, Hyundai i20 Active combines aesthetic design and operability quite well. Spacious seating position for all 5 seats is not surprising thanks to its 2.570mm wheelbase. Electric power assisted steering wheel helps immensely when operating in crowded urban streets. CD/FM/MP3/AUX/Bluetooth connection, high-quality 8-speaker audio system and 1GB of inner memory make up the infotainment system.

In addition, Start/Stop engine button, reverse camera, automatic AC, electronic folding mirrors, 4-way adjustable steering wheel and 1.001-liter luggage compartment (when rear seats are fully folded in 60/40 ratio) can be found.

Hyundai i20 Active employs the latest Kappa I-4 1.4L engine with max power at 72kW (98Hp) at 6.000rpm and max torque at 133Nm at 3.500rpm, accompanied by a 4-speed AT. The engine is praised by Hyundai to have optimal fuel efficiency, durability and strength.

Regarding safety, Hyundai i20 Active features ABS, EBD, 6 airbags and 4-wheel disc brake. i20 Active will be available at 29 dealers across the country from July 31^st with 4 color variations: white, silver, brown and red and is offered with 2-year or 50.000km warranty. It is priced at 619 million VND (VAT included).

Hyundai Thanh Cong expects to sell 200 i20 Active per month and will directly target Ford EcoSport as the model’s main rival.
