Vietnam auto market reaches new record prior to 7th lunar month

After the recent slow down in July (the 6^th lunar month), Vietnam auto market regains the momentum and reaches new sales record.

Total market sales in July reached 28.004 units, among which 17.514 were passenger cars (up 36%), 9.334 were commercial vehicles (down 10%) and 1.156 (down 2%, all compared to June) were special-purpose vehicles.

In term of CKD cars, 20.726 were sold in July, equivalent to a 15% month-on-month increase while CBU car sales reached up to 7.728 units, up 14%.

For the first time in 2016, Ford Ranger was left behind and did not appear in the top 3 best-selling models in Vietnam auto market at all (with Mazda3’s sales surpassed the Ford pickup for the first time this year). July also saw the sudden surge of Corolla Altis’ sales as the sedan took the 7^th rank in sales, leaving behind even Kia Cerato. Huge incentive reaching up to 60 million VND was a major factor behind the success of the Toyota sedan.
