HVN to summarize 2014 and organize a business plan for 2015

Honda Vietnam (HVN) has held a closing ceremony for the 2014 business year and prepared a business development plan for 2015.

The 2014 business year ended in instability with several difficulties for the automobile and motorcycle market in general and for HVN in particular. Nevertheless, with endless efforts, HVN has achieved many success and also contributed greatly in many social activities, thus bringing joy and happiness for many while at the same time completing the goal of becoming a Vietnam typical citizen.

In the last business year (ended on March 31st, 2014), HVN’s global motorcycle and automobile sales reached 17 and 4.3 million units, 10% and 8% up compared to that of 2013 respectively. HVN expected the 2015 business year will see a 7% growth in global motorcycle sales and 12% growth in global automobile sales. images1037453_1_5

In Vietnam, in the last 2 years, HVN’s market share has increased by 5.5% to reach a total of 68% despite a 13% reduced motorcycle market size (reaching 2.71 million units) and a 5% decrease in sales of the company (reaching 1.85 million units) as well as many difficulties existed in the market. Moreover, HVN has exported 32.000 units of motorcycles to many markets, reaching an 163 million $ in turn-over, 50% up compared to that of 2013.

According to Mr Minoru Kato – HVN’s new CEO: “In our financial year from 2014 April to 2015 March, HVN aims to sell 2 million motorcycles (6% up compared this year) with 100.000 units exported to 22 countries and territories (50% up compared to this year). To achieve this, the company is planning to expand production by putting the third plant with advanced equipments and technologies in Ha Nam into operation from 2014 October. In addition, the first plant will continue operating to maintain production.”

In the automobile segment, HVN has achieved great success in 2014 with the boom of the two new models – CR-V and City with their combined sales of 5.882 units – 173% up compared to the previous year. However, as City – one of the company’s key products was under pressure from other competitors, HVN only expected a 9% increase to a total sales of 6.400 units.

Mr Tomohiro Maruno – HVN’s Director of Automobile Sales acknowledged that “In the near future, HVN will introduce new cars with superior designs to meet Vietnamese customers’ needs and demands. Additionally, Honda will begin using its fuel-saving engine “Earth Dreams” in the new Accord to deliver better fuel performance.”

It is known that in the near future, HVN will continue to bring new motorcycles as well as new versions to the Vietnamese market to reach the 2-million-unit expected sales. Besides, the company will expand the car dealer network to bring genuine products and services to more customers.

Also in the ceremony, HVN also announced the result of the company’s social activities, such as the national traffic safety program, forest planting activities, Children’s Idea competition, scholarships for young engineers and scientists, sponsorship for Vietnam football team..
