To support the automotive education, General Motors (GM) Vietnam donated two vehicles and 10 sets of engines and transmissions to 12 universities and vocational training schools across the country.

The donations are a 7-seat Captiva SUV, a 5-seat Spark minicar, and engines and transmissions that power popular Chevrolet models sold in Vietnam, including the Captiva, Orlando, Cruze and Spark. They will support the education and training of students majoring in automobile technology.

Today’s ceremony was attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, Ted Osius, as well as representatives from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Education and Training, General Directorate of Vocational Training – Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, Chevrolet dealers in Hanoi, and students and teachers from the 12 universities and vocational training schools.

At the ceremony, Mr. Wail A. Farghaly, managing director of GM Vietnam, said that students studying automobile technology would be able to disassemble and reassemble the parts and components to better understand the great technologies within them.

In addition, Mr. Osius said at today’s ceremony: “Business and education partnerships are incredibly important for developing the next generation of talent, spurring economic development and making the world we live in a better place. GM has a number of excellent corporate social responsibility programs.”
