Ford Vietnam about to have new Managing Director

Ford Motor Company today (10/6/2015) announced the appointment of Mr.Pham Van Dung to managing director, Ford Vietnam, effective August 1. He will report directly to Mark Kaufman, president, Ford ASEAN.

Mr.Dung is currently serving as finance director, Ford Vietnam. As the new managing director, he will replace Jesus Metelo Arias, who has been appointed to director, FCSD Marketing and Sales, Ford Asia Pacific, and will relocate to Shanghai, China.

In his new role, Mr.Dung will have overall responsibility for leading the continued growth of Ford’s operations in Vietnam, including both the company’s corporate functions and Hai Duong assembly operations.

“We’re proud and excited to be elevating a Vietnamese national, and someone as deserving as Dung, to lead our local operations for the first time,” said Kaufman. “Dung has been a key component of our Ford Vietnam executive team for a number of years, and we are confident that he will continue to drive our growth and success as the leader of a very talented team.”

Ford Vietnam this week reported its best-ever first-half performance with sales rising 70 percent year-over-year 8,952 units. This followed record full-year sales for Ford in Vietnam in 2014.

Ford’s success is being driven by the continued introduction of global Ford vehicles, as well as the ongoing expansion of its dealer network and enhancements to its customer service experience.

Mr.Dung joined Ford Vietnam in 1998 as a corporate accountant in Finance. He has since served in roles of increasing responsibility as the company’s success and nationwide footprint have continued to grow.

These include managing the company’s finance activities across each of its various functions, before assuming operational responsibility of the organization’s finances after becoming Ford Vietnam’s finance manager in 2006. Mr.Dung also served at Ford Australia in Melbourne from 2004-2005 in Finance for Marketing and Sales.

He has been active in Vietnam’s auto industry and business community, including Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), and the American Chamber of Commerce of Vietnam.

Mr.Dung holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Economics from Hanoi Commercial University, as well as a Master’s degree in Finance from Swinburne University of Technology in Australia.

Arias has served as managing director of Ford Vietnam since 2013, during which time he led the team’s efforts in support of Ford’s continued expansion in the market, allowing it to become the number three best-selling brand in the country.
