According to the HCM city Customs Department in area 3, currently 42 cars imported as movable assets of overseas Vietnamese remained at the Vietnam International Container Terminals (VICT) because of their incomplete procedure.

The cars mentioned above were imported by individuals in 2013 who mostly resided outside of HCM city. They are currently stored at the ports waiting to have their procedure completed by owners.

According to the HCM city Customs Department, since the beginning of 2014 the unit has administratively punished and re-exported nearly 100 cars imported as movable assets of returning overseas Vietnamese.

The cars to be re-exported were recorded for administrative violation by customs departments of the city because of ineligible requirements according to current regulations. In some cases, the HCM city Customs Departments has invited the owners 4 times to complete the procedure through the Consulate General of the U.S in HCM city but none of them shown up.

In these cases, the HCM city Customs Department has ordered a 15-million fine and re-exported them. Currently the ineligible cars have all been re-exported.
